Spice Village is the essence of a mountain tribal village, re-imagined for the modern independent traveler. A tribute to ancient ways of life.Curling around a misty ridge 2,000ft high in the Periyar vastness, we found a ranger's home, with fruit trees, rare herbs and a profusion of flowering plants. And here, we set out to build a resort. A village, produced whole, using mountain spirit and tribal wisdoms as building material. Of course, the comforts of a modern hotel exist, but they never intrude. Modern plumbing, comfortable beds and hot showers find their place, but in a setting stripped down to its natural essence.Check ins at Spice Village are not at a boring reception desk, but out on the lawns, with a healthy herbal brew where you can choose the herbs yourself.

Resembling a traditional tribal village, Spice Village offers thatched-roof cottages with a minibar. The property houses an outdoor pool, tennis court and skilled Ayurvedic doctors.

The rustic cottages come with a private verandah which overlooks fruit trees and herb beds. All cottages have a park bench and private bathroom.

Spice Village is 1.4 km from KSRTC Bus Depot. It is 108 km from Kottayam Railway Station and 190 km from Cochin Airport. Free parking is available.

Guests can play billiards at Woodhouse Bar. The resort also provides a tour desk, laundry services and airport shuttles at an extra charge.

The restaurant serves Kerala cuisine, heavily flavoured by local spices. The chef can also prepare traditional tribal curries and Western dishes.
