Hotels with a spice in Berlin

Berlin is where life never stays the same. You cannot fall into a routine in Berlin because there is none. It's a place for extravagant art, peculiar people, and never-ending rave. Let's check out some hotels with a soul, where to rest in between adventures of Berlin.

Situated in the heart of the diplomatic district, the boutique hotel Das Stue is a food lover's dream come true. The hotel is home to a Michelin-star restaurant, Cinco by Paco Pérez, as well as a more casual eatery serving tapas-style small plates with a focus on seafood.  


The hotel's interior design comes courtesy of Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola and features dark hardwood floors, free-standing baths, and a show-stopping crocodile sculpture in the lobby. Other facilities at the hotel include a spa, an indoor swimming pool, and a sauna.

2. Provocateur Berlin


Provocateur is inspired by burlesque and the 1920s. The rooms are decorated in a sultry and decadent style. It is close to the Kurfürstendamm shopping street and the U-Bahn. 
 

The hotel has a bar that serves cocktails and hosts DJ sets and an in-house restaurant run by The Duc Ngo. The in-house restaurant, Golden Phoenix, is run by The Duc Ngo and serves Chinese dishes prepared according to traditional French cooking techniques.

3. Orania.Berlin

Orania.Berlin is a chic urban hotel located in a restored historic building that dates back to 1913. 


The hotel is located on buzzing Oranienplatz and is close to Kreuzberg's plethora of cool bars. Orania.Berlin has its bar, which regularly hosts a variety of concerts, from classical to jazz. The restaurant is headed up by Michelin-star chef Philipp Vogel and focuses on using local ingredients to create tasty, modern dishes. 

4. Max Brown Hotel Ku'damm 

The Max Brown Ku'Damm is a stylish hotel located in a quiet, leafy area on the border of Charlottenburg and Wilmersdorf.


The hotel's compact yet airy rooms feature mid-century furniture, vibrant colors, and a vintage Crosley record player. The hotel's 24-hour bakery and breakfast restaurant, Benedict, serves top-notch coffee and an all-day breakfast. 
 

The Max Brown hotel is surrounded by historical monuments, theatre, music, and art. It is within stumbling distance of the Paris Bar, which David Bowie and Iggy Pop visited during their 1970s vacation in Berlin.

5. Gorki Apartments

Gorki Apartments is a unique combination of a boutique hotel and a personal city pad.  


The six high-end apartments are individually designed in styles ranging from elegant country house-chic to mid-century bohemian. The Gründerzeit-style apartments are set inside a 19th-century residential building and have a homely feel, enhanced by the fictive names bestowed upon each room.

The hotel has been running since 1997 but was comprehensively refurbished in 2016, retaining the hotel's famed Georg Baselitz collection. All 109 rooms and suites were given a makeover in 2016, come with the essential mod-cons, and are spacious.

7. Hotel Zoo Berlin

Hotel Zoo is a luxurious hotel situated on the bustling Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. It opened in 1991 and became the official VIP spot for the Berlin International Film Festival (the Berlinale). After undergoing a two-year restoration and reopening in 2014, the refurbished hotel still nods to its lavish 1920s past with high ceilings and stately rooms, while its interior and art remain firmly in the present, with modern furnishings and bold elements. 
 

The glamorous 141-room hotel has a sleek rooftop bar and the classy Grace restaurant.

8. 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin

The 25hours Hotel in West Berlin is a hip hotel that is part of the Bikini Berlin shopping mall. The hotel has 149 rooms designed by Berlin-educated designer Werner Aisslinger.   


The 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin has a range of suites that are good for those who want to be close to nature. It is a hip and fun-loving hotel with cool features such as a sauna overlooking the zoo, an in-house bakery, and a rooftop bar. The hotel's light-filled spaces and designer suites offer perfect views of the city, and the roof terrace is a good spot to watch the sunset while listening to the sounds of its regular guest DJ sets.

9. Michelberger Hotel

Michelberger is a boutique hotel in Berlin that is quickly becoming one of the city's coolest spots. It is located in a former factory building, and its interior oozes industrial chic.  


The rooms are quirky and unconventional, with funky interiors, oversize hanging lamps, and bookshelves made from recycled crates. The hotel bar has a cozy courtyard, and the adjacent restaurant serves one of the best lunches in town, focussing on healthy dishes made with local ingredients.  


The Michelberger brand also produces and sells coconut water and a small selection of herbal schnapps drinks. The hotel is located in the buzzing district of Friedrichshain, a 10-minute walk from the infamous Berghain club and just over the bridge from Watergate.

The Hotel am Steinplatz in Berlin is a historic hotel that combines an Art Nouveau structure with intimate, high-end service. The hotel's location is discreet but central, with an excellent restaurant, bar, and a lovely rooftop spa.
